National Chrysanthemum Society USA

Mission

The mission of the National Chrysanthemum Society is to: NCSSEal
(1) educate by researching, teaching, and disseminating procedures for the propagation and cultivation of the chrysanthemum; (2) improve the standard of excellence of the chrysanthemum; (3) promote a wider interest in the cultivation of the chrysanthemum; (4) encourage a greater use and display of the beautiful blooms of the many cultivars of the chrysanthemum; and (5) increase the bonds of fellowship among growers of the chrysanthemum.

History

The National Chrysanthemum Society was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1954. It has members living in nearly all states in the USA and many foreign countries. The Society’s members include chrysanthemum specialists, horticulturists, nurserymen, as well as garden clubs, botanical gardens, universities, and libraries. NCS is primarily for the amateur gardener who enjoys growing chrysanthemums, but also welcomes commercial growers.

The National Chrysanthemum Society developed a classification system for chrysanthemums.  Classification is necessary because of the many diverse bloom forms and their suitability to different growing habits.  Chrysanthemums are classified to aid in identifying the cultivars for purchase, use, and exhibition.  Click on the following link for a description of each classification with accompanying pictures.  Chrysanthemum Classifications

    • Hello,
      Sorry for the delayed response.
ODCS Mums full membership is $30 per year.
The other choices are for members who are already associated with another chapter or with another garden club that is not affiliated with the Mums Society.
We hope to see you at our meetings at Falls Church Community Center. Please feel free to stop by at our scheduled meetings.
Thank you so much for your interest.

  1. Hello – I don’t see anywhere in your website pictures of products, handbooks & pamphlets you can order. I would like to see pictures and descriptions of the items before I purchase them. I’m interested in seeing the Chrysanthemum note cards, NCS cloisonné lapel pin, NCS cloisonné pierced earrings, Marble Paperweight-NCS and Chrysanthemum printed stationery. You might sell more produces, handbooks and pamphlets, if there were pictures and descriptions of each item posted in your website.

    • Sorry for the delay in responding. I agree that pictures would help on the NCS website so that members and visitors could see the products for sale. We (NCS) are working on this. It is just a matter of time to take the pictures and then post them on the site. It will happen soon. Thanks for the post and the gentle reminder that we need to do this.
