November 12, 11:30 AM to 1 PM – Annual ODCS Brunch at the J. Gilbert’s Restaurant, Mclean, VA

We announced in the last newsletter that we were looking for a new location for our annual brunch.  The security precautions at Ft. Myer have become stricter.  We understand the need for the security at the base, but felt the forms that had to be completed and submitted weeks in advance by everyone entering the base were a little too much to ask of our members.  After a search that included a number of locations, we selected J. Gilbert’s Restaurant in McLean.  J. Gilbert’s is located at 6930 Old Dominion Dr, McLean, VA (at the corner Chain Bridge Rd or Rte 123 and Old Dominion Dr.).  There is plenty of parking.  We will be sharing the dining room with other customers and will conduct the business portion of the meeting first and then eat.

J. Gilbert’s Sunday brunch includes an omelet bar, hand-carved prime rib, made to-order waffles, and cinnamon sugared donuts with caramel apple sauce. The cold dishes include pastries & bagels, homemade granola yogurt, fresh berries, tomato and mozzarella Greek pasta salad, mixed baby greens, assorted cheeses, fresh fruit, oysters on the 1/2 shell, peel and eat spiced shrimp, smoked salmon, char crusted tuna, assorted smoked fish.  The hot dishes include scrambled eggs, biscuits & sausage gravy, ham & cheddar quiche, sausage links, applewood smoked bacon, bacon infused homestyle potatoes, mac ‘n’ cheese in lobster cream, chicken piccatta, maple glazed Atlantic salmon.  And then there are the desserts – assorted cookies, carrot cake, mini tarts, lemon cake, chocolate dipped strawberries & marshmallows.

The brunch does not automatically include champagne and orange juice (mimosas).  However, the restaurant will take drink orders and separately bill anyone who wants a mimosa.  You now have the flexibility to have wine or beer if you so desire.

When you enter the restaurant, please tell the desk folks that you are with the Old Dominion Chrysanthemum group.  Our reservation is for 11:30.  We will be in a room shared with other customers.

Please print, ANNUAL ODCS BRUNCH Form – 2017 and send in your reservation no later than November 8th.
